If given the option, most people in Charlotte would choose good health over an attractive appearance. After all, health is a crucial ingredient in overall happiness. But in many cases, attention to health is a component contributing to a lovely appearance. For example, those physically fit people have bodies that most others consider attractive. In short, good health tends to look good too.

This relationship between fitness and appearance also holds for your dental care; teeth with health challenges are less likely to be as beautiful as one where you've maintained their well-being. But if you have been faithful in the care of your teeth and you still are unhappy with how your smile looks, the team at Gentry Dental can offer you a host of cosmetic dental solutions to any number or combination of tooth issues.

To help you weigh your options, we will review our cosmetic treatments. We will start with the most accommodating and least intrusive, such as professional teeth whitening and clear braces, and then move on to the most extensive procedures that, when put together, can create a complete smile makeover.

Professional Teeth Whitening Is a Good Place to Start

An excellent way to dip your toe into the world of cosmetic dentistry is with our professional teeth whitening services. We offer two options for teeth whitening.

The first is the in-office whitening procedures we complete in one or two appointments. These deliver noticeable improvements in your smile, supervised by a dental professional.

Your other option is take-home whitening trays that allow you to whiten any place you choose on your schedule. First, we take an impression of your mouth to create trays that fit you snugly. Then, we custom-create your whitening gel at the appropriate strength. Then you'll whiten while you hang out watching television or doing other activities, and in about two weeks, you'll notice a whiter and brighter smile.

Invisible Braces and Clear Aligners Straighten Teeth

Suppose the thing you like least about your smile is misalignments in your teeth. In that case, one of our two invisible braces options will help straighten your teeth without the ugly metal wires and brackets associated with traditional braces. Instead, you can receive treatment in such a way that people around you won't even notice. Many people's first question concerning clear aligners vs. traditional braces is which is more effective. The National Institute's of Health (NIH) compared the two options and found that they both were effective in treating the most common tooth misalignments. However, Dr. Gentry may recommend one over the other for specific conditions.

The first option is clear aligner trays provided by Invisalign. This system uses digital imaging technology to help create a series of comfortable aligners which gradually reposition teeth. During treatment, you wear each tray 20-22 hours per day for around two weeks, removing them when you eat and drink, as well as when you floss and brush your teeth.

Six-Month Smiles is our second option that focuses only on the teeth visible when you smile. Because this system only corrects the alignment of a handful of teeth, the treatment time is considerably shorter. In addition, rather than aligner trays, Six-Month Smiles uses clear brackets that blend in better with your teeth compared to traditional braces.

Dental Bonding and Dental Veneers Correct Tooth Imperfections

Dental Bonding and veneers are treatments that correct surface issues with your teeth, such as:

  • Minor tooth cracks or fractures
  • Chips in a front tooth
  • Misshapen tooth
  • Surface tooth discoloration
  • Gaps or uneven tooth edges

Dr. Gentry uses the same tooth-colored composite material that fills in tooth cavities, and she shapes it in a myriad of ways. As a result, bonding is typically done in one visit and tends to cost less because we perform the whole process in-office.

For more extensive surface issues, Dr. Gentry may recommend a porcelain veneer. These custom-made thin shells are created in a specialized lab for a durable way to cover imperfections. Porcelain veneers are known for their brightness and flawless appearance, though they run more than dental bonding due to the multiple visits and outside lab work.

Smile Makeover: A Whole-Mouth Solution

In some cases, you might require a whole set of treatments to realize your dream smile. Dr. Gentry can design a plan specifically for you with the ideal combination of procedures to achieve the desired effect. This plan may include restorations like dental crowns, veneers, or dental bonding along with Invisalign or Six-Month Braces.

Put together, these treatments will each address a specific issue. And because we will recommend several treatments, we can tailor the plan to your budget and schedule.
