Dr. Gentry is always searching for the latest and most effective techniques that will benefit her patients. With her already extensive experience in digital dentistry, she wanted to incorporate that technology into placing and restoring dental implants. To achieve this, she completed training in Computer Guided Implant Placement in March 2017.

How do computer guided dental implants work? 

Computer guided surgery is an implant placement approach that uses 3D imaging and implant planning software to virtually plan your implant placement. It takes all of the guesswork out of where your implant should go and how the final restoration will look. 

  • Dr. Gentry would start with a 3-D CBCT scan of your jaws done in office:

Dr. Gentry analyzes the amount of bone available for the implant, as well as the location of important anatomical structures such as nerves and sinuses


  • Dr. Gentry then virtually designs your implant placement so that it is in the safest and most optimal position to restore.

  • Using this data, a surgical guide is custom made for your mouth and is used to very accurately and predictably place your implant.

  • Your implant crown is then virtually designed to fit perfectly to your new implant.
