What’s the difference between a bridge and an implant?

Dental Implant in Mouth | Gentry Dental Tooth ReplacementA bridge is 3 or more crowns splinted together with a false tooth to replace the tooth you are missing. Fixed bridges are cemented in place (they are not removable), and require extra effort to clean under them. Although they are sometimes still used to replace missing teeth, they may not be the best option for you, since there is a risk to the neighboring teeth that have to be prepared for the bridge to fit. Bridges generally have to be replaced every 5-15 years.

A dental implant implant is most similar to a natural tooth. Implants consists of two pieces, a titanium post and a porcelain crown. The post is implanted into the bone and then the crown is attached after a brief healing process. A benefit of an implant is that the adjacent teeth do not have to be cut down. They are easy to clean with regular brushing and flossing and can last 30+ years with proper care.
