Why do I need a crown? How long is the process to get one?
A tooth that has been injured, infected, or fractured beyond the scope of what a filling can repair will need a dental crown.
A crown is made of high quality porcelain and is designed to replace your tooth while protecting your root. With your new crown, you’ll enjoy all the function you had with your natural tooth and be able to eat, chew, brush, and floss as you were always used to doing. Because it's customized to match your teeth, you'll also enjoy its appealing look and the way it naturally completes your smile.
How long does a dental crown take?
At Gentry Dental, most of our crowns are completed in one appointment. We do this using the revolutionary CEREC system.
With 3-D imaging, we’re able to scan an image of your tooth directly to our milling machine located right in our office. Dr. Gentry custom designs and shades your tooth, and it’s milled for you while you wait. Not only does this complete the crown-making process more quickly, it also eliminates the messy, gooey impressions we used in the past to fabricate your crown. You’ll leave our office the same day with a high quality, completed restoration that you can rely on for years to come.
